Garlic is King

August 17th, 2008 · No Comments

The Egyptians used garlic while they built the pyramids for food and medicinal.

It is the second most used herb in cooking next to salt.

Garlic is fairly easy to grow, and there are many different garlic varieties. Garlic doesn’t have many insect enemies as it’s juices are sprayed on plants to keep insects away.

Garlic has been and is being used in some countries for heart ailments as it is said to lower blood pressure, help lower cholesterol, and thin the blood. If you are taking blood thinners it is always a good idea to let you Doctor know you are taking garlic or eating more garlic in you foods.

Garlic is said to keep vampires away and if you hang garlic cloves around your neck you will find this works quite well. In fact so well it might keep everyone away.

If you don’t like the odor or even the taste of garlic in your food you can buy it in pill form but be sure to get odorless kind, as some are not. There is an aged garlic extract that is sold in stores that has had many studies that claims to be better than just plain garlic pills.

Garlic can be dehydrated and crushed to make a powder to put on your food. Most times it is sold by itself but there are mixes with other herbs that you can buy.

Many years now garlic has been used to get rid of worms in people and animal. There are so many uses it is hard to name them all. And for me the great taste it adds to food is incomparable to any other spice or herb.

So if it was a choice of only one herb Garlic is King.
